My Grandfather
I was a Grandfathers girl. I
would go everywhere with him, and do everything with my Granddaddy!
We would go to the cow pasture to feed the cow and check the fence. Fill the water trough and feed them. Check on the caves and just spend the afternoon as farmers.
We would spend time in the barn and in the corn field. We would go
to the John Deer store and talk to the old men and listen to the old men
and I their stories about what old men talk about! One of my favorite
things to do as a small girl was play in my sandbox with my Tonka trucks
and things. I did not care
for the baby dolls. My
Grandmother would tell me to stop playing with the trucks, because young
ladies played with dolls. And
my Grandfather would tell her that it was okay if I wanted to play with
the trucks, cause I wanted to do what my Grandfather did!
